I always said I hated the gym and never lasted more than a few weeks, but at 30 I decided to give it another go. My aim was to build strength 1st and if I lost some weight then that was a bonus. I had no clue what I was doing with weights and was using Instagram for guidance, but was worried I'd injure myself with bad form. I was also too intimidated to actually go near any of the free weights! I started having sessions with Kalvin once a month to build my confidence up, have my form checked and corrected, and expand my knowledge on how to target different muscle groups and optimise my workouts! He's been fantastic. Understanding my goals and building the sessions to fit me. My jelly legs from a few squats improved dramatically with Kalvin's help. Despite the occassional red and sweaty faced death stares he got from me, I always found the sessions fun, engaging, and felt I'd accomplished something new each time. My progress from just 1 session a month and implementing what I've learnt into my workouts between sessions is thanks to Kalvin making the gym accessible to a girl who used to be too scared and clueless to go near the weights with all those muscly men!
